The 3 Cs of Major Donor Fundraising

Live webinar

Most fundraisers have a list of potential major donors sitting somewhere. The challenge isn't finding names — it's knowing where to focus your time, how to build relationships that last, and how to turn a prospect into a passionate, long-term supporter.

This major donor fundraising training gives you a clear framework to do exactly that.

What are the 3 Cs?

Major donor fundraising isn't just about finding wealthy people. It's about finding the right people — and building relationships with them in the right way. The 3 Cs give you a structured way to evaluate your prospects and prioritise your approach.

Capacity — Can they give at a major donor level? Capacity is about more than wealth. It's about understanding the realistic scale of someone's philanthropy: what they've given elsewhere, what their wealth signals suggest, and what ask level is appropriate at this stage of your relationship.

Commitment — Do they care about your cause? A major gift without genuine commitment rarely leads to a second one. Commitment looks at how connected a prospect is to your mission: their history with your organisation, their personal values, and the depth of their interest in the problem you solve.

Connection — How strong is the relationship between them and your charity? Connection is where fundraising becomes relational rather than transactional. It asks: who knows this person, how warm is that relationship, and how ready are they for a meaningful conversation?

Together, the 3 Cs help you stop guessing and start making intentional, strategic decisions about where to invest your energy.

What you'll leave with

In just 60 minutes, you'll learn how to apply the 3 Cs framework to your own prospect list, moving from names on a page to a prioritised, actionable plan. Specifically, you'll know how to:

* Assess your prospects across all three pillars quickly and confidently

* Identify who is truly ready for major donor cultivation right now

* Focus your time on the individuals most likely to give (and to give again)

* Engage major donors in ways that feel meaningful rather than transactional

* Build a pipeline that is targeted, sustainable, and deeply connected to your mission

The session includes a live Q&A with us, so you can get answers to the specific challenges you're facing in your own fundraising.

All attendees receive a recording to revisit at any time.
